I have done. The problem is that most of the sites I have done are
for big companies that I worked for and are not accessible to the
general public. These are web pages are only accessible from within

Who needs a website ? |
|
Most businesses (not all)
and professionals who offer products and/or services need a website.
Some businesses like grocery stores, for instance, do not need a
website because no one searches for a grocery store on the internet.
Having said that, I recently was searching for pediatric dentists
in Jersey City on Google. Guess what ? Not one real pediatric
dentist listing in Jersey City. Well at least not in the 1st
page of Google. So are there no pediatric dentists in my town ? Of
course there are. They just don't have a site. Or if they do, they
are not ranking anywhere. So guess what I did ? I took my kid to a
dentist two towns away.
By a website, I don't necessarily mean a website to sell your
products on the internet. A website could simply be like a brochure
advertisement to your business/service that is available to your
potential customer 24 hours a day and seven days a week. It could be
a simple website that talks about your business, the directions to
your location, your contact information and whatever else you want
to mention.
Service professionals like lawyers, accountants, doctors, mechanics
etc should get a website. You might already be doing great
without a website and might not see a need for it. However, you
are missing out on quite a chunk of potential customers who search
for service professionals on the internet. Also note that potential
customers who search for service professionals on the internet are
likely to have more buying power (financially better) than the ones
who do not search through the net. |

Here are some real life
examples of businesses doing extremely well through their websites in
Jersey City.
- A real estate
agent in Jersey City sells 1 house every week
(that is 52 house in a year) and has been doing so for a couple
of years. He told me personally that he gets 95% of his
customers through his website. Now of course, non of his
customers bought the house over the internet. But they were able
to contact him because they found his website while searching
for homes in Jersey City area.
- A lawyer, also

A website also increases your trustworthiness.
In fact, some lawyers (particularly accident lawyers) spend
well over a hundred thousand dollars every year just
promoting their websites.
Do you think they are making good money ?
- A couple from
Jersey City run a forum on the internet about hip-hop music.
They were mentioned in the June issue of the Entrepreneur
magazine. They make over a million dollars in revenue every
year.
- I personally
know (as in friends and someone who I heard of) over a dozen
people in Jersey City area that do over 6 figure income yearly
through their websites.
Three of them do close to half a million dollars. Their main

There must be more people like that in Jersey City, that I don't
know of.

talk about the whole of United States or the world then I can
